Ionian Sea is connected with Aegean Sea through Korinthos channel- one of the beautiful channels in the world. Neron started the project realization of the channel. In 1883 a French company took responsibility for the building of the channel and in 1883 it was ready. The channel is of 80 m height, 6343 m length and 24 m width. Color of the sea there is unbelievably blue.
The Aegean Sea is an elongated embayment of the Mediterranean Sea located between the southern Balkan and Anatolian peninsulas, between the mainlands of Greece and Turkey respectively. In the north, it is connected to the Marmara Sea and Black Sea by the Dardanelle and Bosporus. The Aegean Islands are within the sea and some bound it on its southern periphery, including Crete and Rhodes.

The Cyclades are the most famous of all Greek islands with Amorgos, Anafi, Andros, Antiparos, Delos, Ios, Kea, Kimolos, Folegandros, Milos, Mykonos, Naxos, Paros, Santorini, Serifos, Sikinos, Sifnos, Syros and Tinos. Cycladic islands are divided into three groups:
Northern Cyclades- Kea, Kithnos, Andros, Tinos, Siros, Delos, Mykonos, Rinia.
Central Cyclades- Serifos, Sifnos, Paros, Antiparos, Naxos, Donussa, Iraklia, Shinussa, Kufinisia, Amorgos.
Southern Cyclades- Milos, Kimolos, Folegandros, Sikinos, Ios, Santorini, Anafi.
Dodecanese Islands is the part of eastern border between Greece and Turkey. There are 163 small islands, 26 of which are inhabited. Dodecanese islands can be divided into three groups: Northern, Central and Southern Dodecanese islands.
Euboea (Evia) is the second largest of the Greek Aegean Islands and the second largest Greek island overall in area and population, after Crete. It is separated from the mainland of Greece by the Euboic Sea. In general outline it is a long and narrow, seahorse-shaped island; it is about 150 km (90 miles) long, and varies in breadth from 50 km (30 miles) to 6 km (4 miles). Its general direction is from northwest to southeast, and it is traversed throughout its length by a mountain range, which forms part of the chain that bounds Thessaly on the east, and is continued south of Euboea in the lofty islands of Andros, Tinos and Mykonos.
Northern Sporades (Skiathos, Skopelos, Alonosos, Skiros, Pelagos, Peristera, Piperi, Psatura and others) are covered with pine and olive trees. You will be surprised by seeing here huge mountains, great variety of different trees and flowers, beautiful beaches, rivers and bays.
North-eastern Aegean islands are composed of a lot of small islands but only 20 of them are inhabited. The most famous of them are: Tasos, Samotraki, Limnos, Mitilini (Lesbos), Samos, Ikaria, Furna.
Sardonic Bay is the biggest bay in Greece and it occupies the territory of 740 sq.m. The bay was named because of the King Saron who was the king of Trezena town. Argosaronic islands are: Aigina, Poros, Hydra, Spetses. These islands are situated close to Attici coast and along Peloponnesus eastern coast.
Such islands as, Gavdos, Elafonissos and Trizonis, do not belong to any group of islands but are very beautiful.
